Captain Picard's Hero Dress Uniform
A hero dress uniform worn by Patrick Stewart in his leading role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard during Season 1 or 2 of Paramount’s hit TV show, ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’.
This original custom-made burgundy and black Spandex Starfleet duty uniform features burgundy pipping on the neck, shoulder and ankle cuffs and includes four brass rank pips, indicating the rank of Captain. The outfit includes split cuffs with integrated elastic stirrups, a left hip diagonal pocket and hidden front closure zipper that opens to the waist.
The costume retains the internal Paramount bias label, handwritten as follows: “2 Patrick 022”. It comes with an iconic replica comm badge made from cast resin and painted gold and silver, which is affixed to the chest with velcro. With only minor signs of wear, this signature costume remains in production-used fine condition and is highly collectable.
Star Trek: The Next Generation, which had a massive fan following, was acclaimed for its writing and acting. It became the first and only syndicated TV series to be nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Series during its seventh season. During its lifetime, the show won a number of accolades, including 18 Emmy Awards, two Hugo Awards, five Saturn Awards and a Peabody Award.
This signature costume worn by the lead character in one of the most celebrated and successful science fiction shows of all time is part of television history. Patrick Stewart remarks: “It came to the point where I had no idea where Picard began and I ended. We completely overlapped.”
