    Product Description

A truly iconic and extremely rare 'country of origin' British UK Quad Poster for the first ever James Bond film, 'Dr. No', released in 1962, and starring the incomparable Sean Connery as 007.

Featuring a sauve, charming but lethal secret agent straight from the novels of Ian Fleming and one of the most celebrated Bond girls of all time - the impossibly beautiful Ursula Andress -  this genre-defining and groundbreaking movie launched the greatest and most enduring motion-picture franchise of all time!

This striking 'first year of release' poster by artist, Mitchell Hooks, showcases Connery's Bond - with his Walther PPK and suppressor in hand -  as a sophisticated, impeccably dressed but deadly character accompanied by a bevy of beauties. The bright yellow background and red lettering, so often a weak point on this poster design, is thankfully still bold and vibrant on this iteration.

This beautiful example is presented conservation linen-backed with minor restoration to the fold line, border and key surface areas all performed to a high standard. The poster displays to excellent effect and is perfect for framing.

Bond producers, Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli and Harry Slazman, had originally wanted to produce 'Thunderball' as the first movie in their new James Bond film series. However, a legal dispute between Bond creator, Ian Fleming, and Kevin McClory - a man who contributed some ideas to an early version of the 'Thunderball' screenplay - and by some strange alchemy ended up as sole producer on the official 'Thunderball' movie, when it was finally released in 1965!
