Marilyn Monroe - Bert Stern Mauve Marilyn With Chinchilla In Heels
A stunning photograph of Marilyn on white matte paper from Bert Stern's famous 'The Last Sitting'. The piece is entitled 'Mauve Marilyn with Chinchilla in Heels' and is signed lower right by the artist.
This beautiful image was one of a series of 2500 photos taken by Stern for Vogue over a three-day period in June, 1962, at the Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles. It became known as 'The Last Sitting', as it was Marilyn's last photo assignment with Stern before her tragic death on August 5th, 1962.
"After I set up the studio (at the Bel-Air) the front desk rang: 'Miss Monroe is here.' I decided to go down and meet her. I met her (for the first time) on the pathway to the suite. She was alone wearing a scarf and green slacks and a sweater. She had no make-up on. I said, 'You're beautiful', and she said, 'What a nice thing to say!' (Bert Stern)"
