Star Wars: Return of the Jedi - Original US One-Sheet Poster (Style B)
A superb original vintage one-sheet poster for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (20th Century Fox 1983).
Return of the Jedi (1983), directed by Richard Marquand, is the third film in the original Star Wars trilogy and concludes the epic saga. The film picks up with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), now a skilled Jedi, returning to rescue Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine. After a daring rescue mission, the heroes—Luke, Han, Leia (Carrie Fisher), Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2—escape to join the Rebel Alliance as they prepare for a final confrontation with the Empire.
The Empire, led by Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), is constructing a new and more powerful Death Star, capable of destroying entire planets. The Rebels devise a plan to destroy it, which requires a dangerous mission to the forest moon of Endor, where the Death Star's shield generator is located. Luke, determined to confront Darth Vader (David Prowse/James Earl Jones) and the Emperor, travels to the Death Star to face his destiny.
As the battle between the Rebels and the Empire rages on, Luke engages in a final confrontation with Vader, discovering that Vader is, in fact, his father, Anakin Skywalker. The film culminates in a dramatic clash, with Luke ultimately redeeming his father, who sacrifices himself to destroy the Emperor, bringing balance to the Force.
Return of the Jedi concludes the original trilogy with a mix of thrilling action, emotional depth, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil, as the Rebel Alliance defeats the Empire and restores peace to the galaxy. The film's memorable moments include the redemption of Darth Vader, the epic battle scenes, and the arrival of the Ewoks, which made it a beloved part of the Star Wars saga.

A fun behind-the-scenes tidbit from Return of the Jedi involves the creation of the Ewoks. These small, teddy bear-like creatures became one of the most iconic parts of the film, but the production faced unexpected challenges when it came to bringing them to life.
To create the Ewoks, the filmmakers used a combination of actors in full costumes and animatronics. The actors who played the Ewoks were mostly children, as they were small enough to fit into the furry costumes, but the real surprise came from the behind-the-scenes mishap with the fur costumes. During filming, the heat in the forest locations of Endor was intense, which made the actors in the Ewok suits sweat profusely. This led to a unique situation where the fur of the costumes would become soaked, causing them to lose their shape.
At one point, some of the actors began to notice that the fur was losing its fluffiness, and they started joking that the Ewoks looked less like the cute and cuddly creatures they were supposed to be, and more like “wet dogs.” To solve this, the crew had to constantly repair and restyle the costumes, which required regular attention during the filming, making the process of shooting the Ewok scenes quite challenging and humorous at times.
Despite these difficulties, the Ewoks became a beloved part of Return of the Jedi, with their charming appearance and their eventual role in the Rebels' victory over the Empire. They were also one of the reasons the film, and the Star Wars saga, became even more family-friendly and marketable to children.
