Blade Runner 2049 - Luv's (Sylvia Hoeks) Stunt Curved Knife

Blade Runner 2049 - Luv's (Sylvia Hoeks) Stunt Curved Knife

This is Luv’s screen-used stunt curved knife from Blade Runner 2049. A Nexus-9 model replicant, Luv (Sylvia Hoeks) was initially gifted to the LAPD by Niander Wallace (Jared Leto) to serve as a blade runner and exemplify the capabilities of the Nexus-9 line. Over time, she became Wallace’s personal assistant and enforcer. In the climactic rain-soaked fight sequence, Luv wields two knives against Officer K (Ryan Gosling): a curved-blade knife and a straight-blade, stiletto-style weapon.

This silver-coloured stunt knife, cast in dense urethane, features a long, curved blade and a carved handle designed to resemble folded fabric, with a finger stop at the top of the grip.

The piece displays minor nicks and scratches to the finish, consistent with production use, but remains in good overall condition.

Sylvia Hoeks delivers a striking and memorable performance as Luv in Blade Runner 2049, showcasing her as one of the film’s most compelling and formidable characters. Her portrayal is a perfect blend of menace, precision, and subtle emotional depth, bringing to life a complex replicant who is both ruthless and fiercely loyal.

Hoeks embodies Luv’s cold, calculated nature with a calm intensity that makes her intimidating without resorting to over-the-top villainy. She moves with a cat-like grace and deadly efficiency, which is especially evident in the film’s action sequences, where her physicality and stunt work add to the character’s credibility as a formidable enforcer.

Beyond her role as an antagonist, Hoeks gives Luv moments of quiet vulnerability and internal conflict, hinting at the replicant’s deeper struggles with identity and purpose. This nuance elevates her from a simple henchwoman archetype to a fully realised character, enriching the film’s exploration of what it means to be human.

Critics and fans alike praised Hoeks for her magnetic screen presence, which holds its own alongside the performances of Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. Her work adds significant tension and emotional weight to the story, making Luv an unforgettable figure in the Blade Runner universe.

  • Additional Information

On her very first day on set, Sylvia Hoeks filmed a powerful scene opposite Robin Wright in which Luv crushes her hand with a whiskey glass and shrieks, “Where is he?”, and then plunges a dagger into her victim. Sound designer Ren Klyce later recounted that director Denis Villeneuve was astounded by how Hoeks transformed from cold fury to a single, poignant tear in the blink of an eye—eliciting real emotion just before delivering lethal violence. Her performance in that moment captured immense emotional repression, vulnerability, and raw power all at once.

This scene didn’t just set the tone for Luv—it became the character’s birth, as Villeneuve famously remarked—and instantly showcased Hoeks’ incredible range and depth.
