Blade Runner (1982) - Original US One Sheet Poster (NSS Style)

A striking original vintage one-sheet poster for Blade Runner (Warner Bros, 1982).

Blade Runner (1982), directed by Ridley Scott, is a dystopian sci-fi film set in a bleak, rain-soaked Los Angeles in the year 2019. The story follows Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former "blade runner" — a specialized police officer tasked with hunting down and "retiring" rogue replicants, which are bio-engineered beings nearly identical to humans.

Deckard is called out of retirement to track down and eliminate a group of replicants who have illegally returned to Earth. These replicants, led by the charismatic Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer), are searching for their creator, Dr. Eldon Tyrell, in hopes of finding a way to extend their limited lifespan.

As Deckard pursues them, he grapples with his own morality and identity, particularly after meeting Rachael (Sean Young), a replicant who believes she is human. The film explores profound themes of humanity, artificial intelligence, memory, and what it means to be alive.

Blade Runner is renowned for its philosophical depth, stunning visuals, and its haunting soundtrack by Vangelis. It has become a cult classic, influencing countless films and discussions about the intersection of technology and humanity.

This beautiful unrestored poster is folded and exhibits only light fold wear and sporadic crimping.

  • Additional Information

An interesting story from the production of Blade Runner involves the iconic voiceover narration by Harrison Ford, which was added to the film against Ford's wishes. The film’s original version, released in 1982, included a noir-style voiceover that Deckard (Ford) delivers throughout the movie, meant to provide clarity and guide the audience through the complex plot.

However, Ford was not fond of the voiceover and felt it was unnecessary, as he believed the film’s visuals and themes spoke for themselves. He famously described the experience of recording the narration as "painful" and "bad." Ford was forced to record the lines quickly, as the studio demanded it, and he even tried to make the performance sound as flat and uninterested as possible, which gives the narration a unique, almost sardonic tone.

Interestingly, Ford’s discomfort with the narration became part of the film’s charm, and the voiceover was eventually removed in the 2007 Director’s Cut and the 2009 Final Cut, allowing audiences to experience the film as Ridley Scott originally intended. Despite Ford's objections, the voiceover version played a significant role in Blade Runner's initial commercial release and the film's subsequent cultural impact.
