"Storm" - Hero Costume - Halle Berry
An actual signature outfit worn by Halle Berry in her debut as ‘Storm’ in Bryan Singer’s fantasy blockbuster, X-Men (2000). It is most prominently seen during the climactic fight sequence between Storm and Toad (Ray Park) near The Statue of Liberty.
This truly spectacular outfit includes Storm’s black leather and vinyl flight suit, adorned with silver accents, and showcasing black and silver ‘X-Motifs’ on both sides of the collar and on the buckle of the belt. Completing the ensemble is a screen-worn full-length silver lamé cape.
Released on July 14th, 2000, and directed by Bryan Singer (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects), X-Men launched one of the most lucrative and enduring film franchises in the last twenty years, pulling in $296,339,527 at the worldwide box-office. David Denby in The New Yorker describes the movie as “The most beautiful, strange and exciting comic book movie since the original Batman.”
This outfit comes with an impressive set of documents to establish its provenance, including a letter from Alan J. Adler, Executive Director of 20th Century Fox Archives, as well as a letter from Maura Quinn, Executive Director of Unicef Ireland, confirming the suit’s on-screen use and its donation by Fox to their charity, ‘Movie Action for Children’. There is an additional letter of provenance from Giles Moon at the Joel Leonard Auction House.
