James Bond - World Royal Premiere Brochure, Casino Royale (2006)

An official mint condition brochure for the Casino Royale Royal World Premiere, held on 14 November 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall, London. This beautiful James Bond collectible is a sleek, A5-sized, saddle-stitched publication produced exclusively for the 60th Royal Film Performance. Finished in a deep navy-blue cover with the Casino Royale logo elegantly embossed, it is individually numbered (3478), enhancing its value as a collectible. Inside, the brochure features a welcome message, cast biographies, and striking photography from the premiere, including red carpet images of Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Judi Dench, and Mads Mikkelsen, alongside a short essay highlighting the film’s significance as Daniel Craig’s debut as James Bond. Issued in support of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, the brochure is both a commemorative keepsake and a prized item for Bond memorabilia collectors.

Casino Royale (2006) marked a bold reinvention of the James Bond franchise, introducing Daniel Craig in his first outing as 007. Based on Ian Fleming’s original 1953 novel, the film strips Bond back to his origins, chronicling his first mission as a newly promoted double-0 agent. His target is Le Chiffre, a financier of global terrorism, whom Bond must outplay in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale in Montenegro.

Along the way, Bond encounters Vesper Lynd, the treasury agent assigned to keep him in check, with whom he forms a deep and tragic relationship. The film combines visceral action—such as the now-iconic parkour chase—with emotional depth, moral ambiguity, and a more grounded, vulnerable portrayal of Bond.

Critically acclaimed and commercially successful, Casino Royale is widely credited with saving and modernising the Bond franchise, laying the foundation for a new era of storytelling that continued through to No Time to Die (2021).

One of the most famous anecdotes from Casino Royale’s production revolves around the intense opening parkour chase in Madagascar, which was actually filmed in the Bahamas. In this sequence, Daniel Craig’s Bond pursues the bomb-maker Mollaka, played by Sébastien Foucan, one of the original pioneers of freerunning.

The chase features extraordinary stunts—vaulting through scaffolding, leaping between cranes, and crashing through walls. What’s remarkable is that Foucan, performing most of his own stunts, was a professional freerunner, while Craig had to train intensively to keep up believably on screen.

During one take, Craig insisted on doing a particularly physical stunt himself, where Bond smashes through a plasterboard wall rather than leaping over it like Mollaka. He threw himself through it with such force that he chipped a tooth on impact. Production had to be briefly paused while his dentist was flown to the Bahamas to carry out emergency dental work.

Rather than slow down filming, Craig was reportedly back on set within 24 hours, joking about his “new smile.” Director Martin Campbell later praised Craig’s commitment, saying it was that mix of “grit and realism” that made his Bond so compelling. The sequence went on to become one of the most celebrated action openers in Bond history.
