Apocalypse Now (1979) - Original US One Sheet Poster
An iconic original vintage one-sheet poster for Apocalypse Now (United Artists, 1979).
Apocalypse Now, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is a seminal movie set during the Vietnam War. The story follows Captain Benjamin Willard (Martin Sheen), a troubled and disillusioned officer, who is sent on a secret mission to assassinate Colonel Walter Kurtz (Marlon Brando), a once-decorated Army officer who has gone rogue and established a god-like cult among the indigenous people in Cambodia.
The film is a haunting exploration of the psychological and moral costs of war, exploring themes of madness, power, and the horrors of conflict. Its stunning visuals, intense performances, and powerful use of music (including The End by The Doors) have made Apocalypse Now a cinematic masterpiece and a profound meditation on the Vietnam War.
This poster is in outstanding condition and exhibits only minimal fold wear. This striking unrestored example is very clean and will display to excellent effect.

- Additional Information
One intriguing fact about the production of Apocalypse Now is the tumultuous and often chaotic shooting process, which included a near-disastrous typhoon. The production was plagued by numerous setbacks, including weather delays, on-set injuries, and the constant pressure of working in the challenging Philippine jungles. In one particularly dramatic turn, a typhoon destroyed several of the film’s sets, forcing the crew to rebuild them while dealing with a rapidly escalating budget.
Additionally, Marlon Brando, who played Colonel Kurtz, showed up on set overweight and unprepared, forcing the filmmakers to rework the role and script to accommodate his lack of preparation. Despite these obstacles, the film ultimately became one of the greatest achievements in cinema history, solidifying its place as a testament to both the chaos of filmmaking and the power of creative vision.
