    Product Description

We are very pleased to present enigmatic Korean War Veteran Walt Kowalski's 'Ranger Zippo Lighter' from the acclaimed 2008 Drama, Gran Torino, in which Clint Eastwood acts as the star, producer and director.

Walt uses the lighter throughout the film to facilitate his unfortunate smoking habit and, most famously, as a surrogate for a gun in the film's tragic denouement. In the final showdown with the gang that has been terrorising his beloved neighbours,  Walt pulls out the lighter from his pocket in a fashion that causes the gang members to believe he is about to draw and fire his gun. When they shoot and kill him, they are arrested for murder; thus  giving meaning to Walt's heroic sacrifice and freeing his neighbours from mortal danger

The lighter is embellished with the striking emblem of the US 1st Cavalry Division - the unit in which Walt served during the Korean War. For safety reasons, the lighter is sold without fuel, but the sparking mechanism still works as designed.

Clint Eastwood won a 'Best Actor Award' from the National Board of Review for his incredible performance in Gran Torino. The New York Times described the film as ""a sleek, muscle car of a movie made in the USA, in that industrial graveyard called Detroit."

This iconic zippo lighter is perhaps the most memorable and iconic prop from Gran Torino, one of Clint Eastwood's very best films from the modern era. Only the Gran Torino itself has more significance. The lighter comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Los Angeles Times wrote of Clint Eastwoods incredible performance in Gran Torino: "It is a film that is impossible to imagine without the actor in the title role. The notion of a 78-year-old action hero may sound like a contradiction in terms, but Eastwood brings it off, even if his toughness is as much verbal as physical. Even at 78, Eastwood can make 'Get off my lawn' sound as menacing as 'Make my day', and when he says 'I blow a hole in your face and sleep like a baby', he sounds as if he means it."
