Die Another Day - James Bond's Aston Martin Vanquish V12 License Number Plate

James Bond's high collectable production-used Aston Martin V12 Vanquish Licence / Number Plate from Lee Tamahori's Die Another Day.

The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish served as James Bond's primary vehicle in Die Another Day, marking the franchise's return to Aston Martin after a 15-year absence of new models since The Living Daylights. Q presents the car to Bond at MI6's secret London Underground station after his reinstatement to Double-0 status, playfully nicknaming it the "Vanish" due to its remarkable adaptive camouflage feature.

The production supplied seven V12 Vanquishes finished in Tungsten Silver with charcoal leather interiors, deliberately recalling Bond's original DB5. Three standard production cars featured the genuine 6.0-liter V12 engine producing 450 horsepower, capable of reaching 195 mph with 0-62 mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds. Four additional vehicles were heavily modified for stunt work, equipped with four-wheel drive and a Ford-sourced 300 bhp V8 engine to increase traction on ice.

Bond drives the Vanquish to Iceland for Gustav Graves' Icarus presentation and later uses it in the film's centrepiece action sequence. The car engages in an explosive ice battle with Zao's heavily armored green Jaguar XKR on a frozen lake, showcasing its full weaponry when the camouflage system is compromised. The duel unfolds as what critics described as an "explosive ice ballet" between the two vehicles. The Vanquish emerges victorious during a final showdown at the Ice Palace, where Bond uses its thermal imaging system to locate Jinx inside the melting structure before rescuing her.

The KE02 EWW plate from the V12 Vanquish in Die Another Day holds special significance as it comes from Pierce Brosnan's final Bond film and the franchise's 40th-anniversary celebration. The plate represents the last gadget-equipped Aston Martin of the Brosnan era and the vehicle that reintroduced the marque to the franchise after 15 years of absence. The KE02 EWW registration uses an authentic UK license plate format, creating a direct physical link to the film's production roots and the car's country of origin. With only seven Vanquishes used in filming—and at least two destroyed during the ice chase sequence—any surviving components from these vehicles are inherently rare.
