Casino Royale (2006) is a spy thriller and the reboot of the James Bond franchise, starring Daniel Craig in his first appearance as 007. The film follows Bond as he earns his 00 status and is assigned a mission to thwart a high-stakes poker game run by terrorist financier Le Chiffre. Bond must prevent Le Chiffre from winning, as it would fund his far-reaching criminal activities for years to come. Throughout the mission, Bond faces various challenges, including betrayal, emotional vulnerabilities, and a life-changing romance with Vesper Lynd, a British Treasury agent. The film explores Bond's transformation into the iconic secret agent, highlighting his internal struggles and the personal costs of espionage. It is regarded by many fans and critics as a contender for the greatest Bond movie of all time.

The freerunning sequence in Casino Royale (2006) occurs early in the film, where James Bond chases bomb maker, Mollaka, through a construction site in Madagascar. Bond engages in a high-energy pursuit, using parkour and acrobatic movements to navigate obstacles like scaffolding, cranes, and rooftops. The intense chase showcases Bond's physicality and determination, as he narrowly avoids traps and attacks, including a dramatic jump through windows and walls. The sequence highlights the modern, gritty tone of the film and introduces Bond's resourcefulness and agility. Sébastien Foucan, the founder of freerunning who played Mollaka, gave an incredible display of parkour that dazzled audiences worldwide and set the standard for all future freerunning sequences in film.

This collection of storyboards remains in very good production-used condition and is a delight for all collectors of classic James Bond memorabilia.

  • Additional Information

Casino Royale (2006) was widely acclaimed by critics and is often considered one of the best James Bond films. Critics praised the film for its fresh approach, particularly in its grittier, more realistic tone, and Daniel Craig's performance as the new 007. Craig’s portrayal of Bond was lauded for being more vulnerable and human, offering a stark contrast to the suave, invincible character portrayed by his predecessors.

The action sequences, particularly the intense parkour chase and the high-stakes poker game, were also highlighted as standout moments. The film's reimagining of Bond's origin story, focusing on his early days as a 00 agent, was well-received for bringing depth and emotional complexity to the character.

Overall, Casino Royale was seen as a much-needed revitalization of the franchise after the more fantastical and less grounded films of the late '90s and early 2000s. It holds a very high approval rating on review aggregator sites, such as Rotten Tomatoes, where it garnered critical praise for its action, emotional depth, and for making Bond more relatable than ever before.
